Lehigh Brown and White Video Highlights

lehighLast night Lehigh held its annual Brown and White wrestle offs. After the contest Coach Santoro indicated that these results are only part of the process of determining the starting line up and it may take until January to finalize the deep and talented Mountain Hawk lineup. The biggest upset of the night was at 141lbs where Ryan Pomrinca scored a late takedown to beat Randy Cruz. To give you an idea of Lehigh’s depth Cruz is a nationally ranked guy (8-15). Coach Santoro told me after the wrestle offs that Cruz won a close one last week. These guys know each other’s style well and I’d look to see this resolved by the highest place winners at tournaments like the ESU Open and Southern Scuffle. Most of the guys know each other well and it shows as cautious wrestling. You need to check out the 165lb match between Wolf and Galik, all action. Coach Santoro told me they go at it like that in practice, a very aggressive and fun style for the Grace Hall faithful to watch. This match got the 1000+ fans very vocal and appreciative of the action. Jordan Kutler was dominant while teaching a very good wrestler, Kent Lane. Kutler is the kind of freshman that is going to start turning heads quickly once the season starts in earnest. Last night confirmed that Lehigh is deep and young and built for now and the next few years. Jordan Wood has starting transforming into a legit 285er. He’s getting bigger everyday. He was very active while falling to top 20 senior Doug Vollaro in the final match of the night. Lehigh could easily have wrestlers ranked in 8 weight classes once January rolls around. If they stay healthy and the Mountain Hawks could be looking at a top ten NCAA finish. The future appears to be bright for Lehigh.
