The Rider Broncs looked ready for the post season with a 25-11 victory over the central Jersey neighbor Princeton. It was spirit night at Rider and the gym was packed, the home team fans were in for a treat, they had lots to cheer for.
The victory gave Coach Gary Taylor his 441st career win, Moving Taylor past former Coach J Robinson for third place all-time at the Division I level. Rider has one more home match Saturday versus Maryland, get to this match (I have Rider) and thank Gary for his years of service. Princeton will be at F & M Friday. I’ll take Princeton. There’s nothing not to like about both these teams; NJ make sure to enjoy you some D1 wrestling.
A couple of story lines to mention: Rider won the opening two matches that I thought were toss-ups, Princeton didn’t start Kolodzik or Harner (they will/should be in the line up for EIWA’s) and Wayne Stinson moved up a weight class and knocked off Ian Baker.
I always find it interesting that such closely ranked teams can have so much separation on any giving night. Just one of the things that makes wrestling so much fun.
