Troy Sunderland started losing the desire to be in the Manheim Central wrestling room at some point during the 2015-16 season.
The Manheim Central coach soon shared those feelings with George Derbyshire, the Barons’ longtime athletic director. The conversation was short, and ended with Sunderland informing Derbyshire he’d give it another year, that he’d coach the 2016-17 season and see how he felt afterward.
So when Sunderland reached out to Derbyshire two weeks ago, saying, “We need to talk,” Derbyshire sensed what was coming. This time Sunderland said he was done coaching.
