FLASH: U.S. goes 0-3 in dual meets at Oleg Karavaev International in Belarus

MINSK, Belarus – The United States went 0-3 in Greco-Roman dual meets at the Oleg Karavaev International in Minsk, Belarus on November 21.

The competition was an eight-team tournament, split into two pools of four teams. The United States dropped its three dual meets, losing to Poland (5-3), Russia (7-1), Belarus II (8-0)

In the dual meet against Poland, winning matches for the USA were Sam Jones (Folsom, La./USOTS) at 59 kg/130 lbs. and 2012 Olympian Ben Provisor (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 85 kg/187 lbs. The USA also won the heavyweight match by forfeit.

Against Russia, the U.S. winner was 2010 World Team member Jake Fisher (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 75 kg/165 lbs.

“We had a few bright spots today and I know our guys can compete with the best. I’m glad we made it here so they could experience this high level event. We know the areas we need to improve in now it’s time to do the work,” said National Greco-Roman Coach Matt Lindland.
