Rutgers 28 Drexel 9 Highlights and Interviews

Last night in front of 200-300 wrestling fans, Rutgers came into “the Dak” and trounced Drexel 28-9. Both teams had starters out with the “sickness” but came to compete. The dual started at 133 lbs. – the most anticipated match up of the night: #15
drexel dragons
Kevin Devoy Jr. decision over # 17 Scott DelVecchio Rutgers, 4-2. Drexel 3-0. The match wasn’t as close as the score. DelVecchio scored the first takedown and didn’t do anything the rest of the match.
141: # 9 Anthony Ashnault Rutgers Fall over Andrew Mauriello Drexel @ 2:52. Rutgers 6-3. I was hoping to see Pearce go for the Dragons but it was not to be.
149: # 18 Ken Theobold Rutgers major decision over Matthew Cimato Drexel, 9-1. Rutgers 10-3. Cimato won the last folkstyle meeting but Theobold was very ready for his funk this time around.
157: #13 Anthony Perrotti Rutgers Tech Fall over Noel Blanco Drexel, 16-0. Rutgers 15-3. Blanco has been wrestling well and I expected a little more from him on his feet.
165: Nick Elmer Drexel decision over Mike Simmons Rutgers, 3-1. Rutgers 15-6.
174: Phil Bakuckas Rutgers decision over Stephen Loiseau Drexel 2-0 (SV) Rutgers 18-6.
184: Alex DeCiantis Drexel decision Anthony Pafumi Rutgers, 4-2 (TB). Rutgers 18-9.
197: Hayden Hrymack Rutgers decision over Brandon Litten Drexel, 7-2. Rutgers 21-9.
285: #15 Billy Smith Rutgers major decision over Alex Foley Drexel, 11-2. Rutgers 25-9
125: Josh Patrick Rutgers Decision over Zack Fuentes Drexel, 7-5. Rutgers 28-9.
I was expecting more from Fuentes especially against the Rutgers back up. Fuentes is recovering from a serious arm injury and I’m not sure that his head is 100%. Before the injury I had him as a surprise round of 12 guy at nationals.
Post match interviews with Anthony Ashnault, Anthony Perrotti and Coach Donny Pritzlaff.
Stay tuned I’ll be covering Drexel vs. Nebraska and Penn Saturday. Look for tweets @truewrestler1 and on my twitter feed at where you can also see video highlights and interviews.
