Edinboro over Rider 22-10

Video in process.
A young Edinboro wrestling team showed up at Alumni gym at Rider University last night and won what ended up being a crazy match last night because they were to willing wrestle an entire match. I’ve been to at least a dozen D1 matches this season and this was the worst officiating job I’ve seen. The ref made lots of inconsistent calls and completely changed the winner of one match and stopped a match with one wrestler on his back nearly pinned. Everyone makes mistakes and has a learning curve but having this ref at a marquee EWL dual didn’t make sense.
The match started at 149lbs and went back and forth until 285lbs. Even Edinboro’s coach Flynn didn’t think that his heavy won the match in Sudden Victory. From there on the ‘Boro won out.
Cardio influences the will to win and even with these top D1 programs it became an issue where at least a couple of matches were decided by poor cardio and the lack of a will to wrestle hard. The marquee match up of Austin Matthews vs. Chad Walsh was worth the price of admission. These two had split their 2 previous meeting. Matthews took an early lead but Walsh was able to problem solve his way to victory.
