Reigning World champion, the most highly sought after recruit in years and America’s #1 High School wrestler in the country, Spencer Lee, had his first high school loss in the Pennsylvania state finals tonight. Lee was wearing a serious knee brace with word around the arena that he suffered a torn ACL earlier. Austin DeSanto, Drexel Dragon commit, steered into this match-up by dropping a weight class this post season. DeSanto stated last month that he wanted to wrestle Lee. This was a daunting task considering Lee won over DeSanto via Tech Fall in last year’s finals match 15-0.
If it is an ACL injury average heal time may be up to a year from the date of the surgery. How will that affect Lee and Iowa’s future plans? Who will replace Thomas Gilman next season?
Congratulations Austin DeSanto and a speedy recovery to Spencer Lee.
I think that Lee won a World Championship a couple of years ago with a torn shoulder labrum, you got to know that PA states is a tough tournament.
Here's the end of Austin DeSanto's victory over Spencer Lee. To loud to hear the clock, unfortunately. pic.twitter.com/2I1yiMMej1
