#11 Cornell over #25 Princeton 34-6 Highlights & Interviews

Cornell claimed its 16th Ivy League title yesterday over Princeton. It’s pretty incredible if you think about what Coach Rob Koll and his staff has built at Cornell. Not only have they built a powerhouse, but they built it at an Ivy League School – one of a kind…for now (keep your eye on Princeton). Cornell got off to a quick start and never looked back. Princeton is coming off a tough training cycle and finals. I expect more from this team come EIWA’s. Cornell is filled with quality guys that aren’t household names yet, but some will be come March.
If you haven’t been to a wrestling mach at Princeton you are missing something. There always seems to be at least a couple hundred passionate and loud fans in Dillon Gym. A few guys stuck out to me: Diakomihalis is a freshman force and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at the top of the podium come March, Kolodzik seems back but his sophmore year has been rocky, D’Angelo is someone to watch for at EIWAs. Stroker is still adjusting to the D1 landscape. Darmstadt is really good but I think that he has some big holes in his game, Brucki seemingly could take him down at will but made a strategic mistake trying to ride Darmstadt and got reversed and ridden out. Watch out for Brucki, maybe not this season but the kid will at least AA. Lastly Max Dean has all the physical attributes to be a top-level guy and as his mental confidence grows look for him to take out some bigger names during the championships.
Princeton finishes the season with two home matches: Penn 2/17 and Rutgers 2/18. TW will be covering the Princeton versus Rutgers match.
Cornell finishes with UNC 2/16. EIWAs are March 3rd at Hofstra in Hempstead NY.
Interviews- Pre match Coach Nate Jackson. Post match: Coach Damion Hahn, Coach Chris Ayres, Matt Kolodzik and Mike D’Angelo.
