Yesterday a battle tested Rutgers team traveled to Princeton to take on a tough Tiger team. Last year this match set an attendance record at High Point Stadium, as wrestling fans needed sunscreen to keep from getting burned. Princeton hoped to make this years action as close as last season. More than 1,000 wrestling fans got to see some excellent match ups, upsets and action at Jadwin gym as Rutgers dominated the dual. Rutgers got off to a good start as their backup to Nick Suriano got a sudden victory win to open the match up. The Rutgers train kept rolling until returning All American matt Kolodzik knocked off highly ranked Eleazar DeLuca. That was just a bump in the road for the Scarlet Knights as they went on to win 5 of the next 6 matches. Take aways: Nick Suriano is still MIA but coach Goodale says that he’s practicing and will be ready for the B1G Championships? Matt Kolodzik looks like a returning AA again, Eleazar DeLuca and John Van Brill could be a bracket buster at B1G’s, Mike D’Angelo should win EIWA’s but … and I don’t think anyone wants Pat Brucki on their side of the bracket at EIWA’s. Last year’s match was the closest between these two schools that I can remember; this year Rutgers looked like a legit Big Ten team.
Next up, Princeton will be at the EIWA Championships in Hempstead NY March 3rd and 4th. Rutgers will be at the B1G Championships March 3rd and 4th.

I thought that there were a few times that the official made bad and inconsistant calls during this match. 157 and 174 stand out as the most obvious to me. You be the judge.
