Weighing in with Alec Pantaleo

I talked with Alec Pantaleo earlier today.  Alec is a 2x AA place winner with his highest finish 5th last March in Cleveland. Pantaleo is one of my favorite wrestlers. He can go with and beat anyone when he’s on his game. Not sure what weight class he will be at next season but if he’s healthy I’d bet on seeing him in a finals match. Below are just some of the things that we talked about.

  3. You come from a heavy wrestling family (dad & uncles). When did you start wrestling and how did it happen?
  4. What did you like about the sport? What age were you when you started to take it seriously?
  5. Describe Michigan youth and high school wrestling.
  6. You were a successful high school wrestler. What were the biggest changes or adjustments that you had to make as a B1G true freshman?
  7. What was your recruiting process like? Fun or stressful? Any advice you’d give to someone about to go through the process?
  8. What is the biggest difference between a high-level Michigan high school wrestler and a B1G wrestler? How do you mentally deal with a loss?
  9. What was it like going into the UM practice room for the first time?
  10. Tell me about coach Macfarland and has anything changed with coach Bormet.
  11. What would improve college wrestling? Rule changes, formats?

  13. What has been your biggest challenge in the sport?
  14. What do you consider you greatest accomplishment in wrestling?
