#16 North Carolina cruised into Princeton earlier today to face the #12 team in the country. I know other wrestling organizations don’t have them ranked as I do. Princeton’s team is clearly on the move literally. Fan demand for seats pushed this match from tiny Dillion Gym to much bigger Jadwin Gym earlier this week. Tomorrows match versus Okie State will draw even more fans.
Back to the match. Several hundred fans watched Princeton come out with energy and drive taking the match to a mostly flat looking UNC team. Click the hyperlink in the box score to see highlights. Pat Glory opened things up with bonus points versus a familiar foe. Keller knocked off a ranked opponent. Kolo took out O’Connor in the highest individually ranked match. It might have been freshman Travis Stefanik’s first period fall that turned the tide. While little Pat Bruck sealed the deal.
Princeton is coming off their best finish at Midlands ever. UNC came in after a good showing at the Cowboy Shootout.
Princeton is action tomorrow at 1 pm vs #4 Oklahoma State. UNC next faces Virginia January 26 in Chapel Hill.
