#7 Lehigh Trips on Cross State Rival #12 Pitt, 19-18 on 3rd criteria Highlights & Interviews

It was a tough weekend for the Mountain Hawks dropping duals with 2 ranked rivals. After a tough loss to Princeton last night Lehigh hosted cross state rival Pitt at the Snakepit. The dual didn’t go as expected with bonus points, upsets and criteria deciding the winner in two consecutive home matches for the Mountain Hawks. Pitt had 39 total match points Lehigh had 39.

1,500 fans filed in to Grace Hall looking for a strong bounce back match and experienced a wide range of emotions over the next two hours. Brandon Paetzell got a pin in the opening bout and the Snakepit came to its feet. Ryna Pomrinca upset a gassed Cole Matthews in sudden victory. It was Taleb Rahmani’s pin of Josh Humphreys that was a preview of things to come in the second half of the dual. The matches all went as rankings would have determined until 285, when Demetrius Thomas closed out the dual with a strong effort against All American Jordan Wood. Thomas’ win put the final result in the hands of criteria and Pitt won on total match points.
