Rutgers first national champion Nick Suriano has re-enrolled at the university this week. Suriano won a title at 133-pounds versus Daton Fix on a controversial call in 2019 before taking an Olympic red-shirt last season. Suriano and his father told many people that he would never return to college or Rutgers wrestling and yet here we are. Suriano placed third at the Bill Farrell International in November of 2019, and fourth at the Senior Nationals in December of 2019, both at 57kg.
Suriano qualified for the Olympic Team trials with this win over fellow NCAA champ, Darian Cruz.
If there is a season, I’m guessing that Suriano will wrestle 133-pounds. With Northwestern transfer Sebastian Rivera going 141. While Rutgers looks soft around the edges these two could get the RAC on their feet.
